summer update

The sun shines over London and has done so pretty much consistently for the last 6 weeks or so – it’s a lovely, proper summer. We haven’t been abroad lately and won’t be going anywhere until late August. Fortunately London is offering enough diversions in terms of parks, galleries, movies, etc. to keep us occupied. Have you noticed yet that there’s nothing much to report in this post? Things are just rolling along nicely. If you’re not interested in random ramblings then I would recommend you stop reading now and do something more productive with your time... Okay, so a few weeks ago I was going to blog on how the whole country was World Cup mad blah, blah, blah… but frankly I couldn’t muster the enthusiasm (although I must say I find this quite inspiring). Brendan went to a few soccer-related corporate events and to the Henley Rowing Regatta (rah! rah!) and had a week or so of bliss flicking between simultaneous live coverage of the World Cup, Wimbledon and the Tour de France (the joys of being in the right time zone). We have joined our local Leisure Centre, which is a swishbang, brand new facility and I’ve borrowed a bike and have started riding to work. We’ve been to a few BBQs which invariably involve at least a half hour argument with English people about how gas barbeques do so count as being a proper barbeque. I have learnt that non-organic salmon is that pink colour because they feed them something that makes their flesh the colour that people imagine it should be (there are colour charts for this). We’ve booked tickets for our visit home in December and Brendan’s had a haircut. Okay, consider yourselves updated!
